Your Pathway: From First Enquiry to Final Review

Choosing rib remodelling in Australia means choosing the premium standard of care — one of the most rigorous cosmetic surgery frameworks in the world, formalised by the Medical Board of Australia in 2023. This is a benefit, not a formality: by the time you reach theatre you have been assessed by independent and specialist eyes, planned on your own 3D imaging, informed in writing, and given genuine time to decide. Every step is designed to protect you and to give your result the best possible foundation. Here is the whole sequence.

The sequence

01

Enquire

Start with the enquiry form, phone or live chat. Our team will explain the process, send written information, and answer practical questions about locations, timing and logistics. Clinical questions — am I suitable, what would my result be — belong with the surgeon, and the team will help you get to that conversation properly rather than answer it improperly.

02

GP referral

Every cosmetic surgery patient in Australia needs a referral from their usual GP or another independent medical practitioner. It’s a feature, not a hurdle: your GP knows your history, flags anything relevant early, and remains a sounding board with no stake in the outcome. If you don’t have a regular GP, we’ll explain exactly what to ask for at any general practice.

03

First consultation

A thorough clinical assessment with the specialist plastic surgeon for your city — Brisbane. Your history and examination, your goals and what your anatomy supports, the technique the surgeon would propose, and the risks that apply to you personally. A pre-operative CT scan is arranged to map your rib anatomy in three dimensions — the foundation the whole surgical plan is built on.

You’ll also complete the routine psychological screening that Australian practice requires of every cosmetic surgery patient, using a validated tool. It protects the small number of people for whom surgery wouldn’t be the right answer — and for everyone else, it’s ten minutes of questions.

04

Second consultation and consent

At least two pre-operative consultations are required, at least one of them in person with your operating surgeon. The second typically reviews your CT together, finalises the plan and the realistic range for your anatomy, works through your accumulated questions, and — if you wish to proceed — completes informed consent with your surgeon personally. You’ll receive everything in writing: plan, risks, recovery protocol, and a complete itemised quotation covering surgical, anaesthetic and facility fees. No pressure and no incentives — that isn’t how specialist practice works.

05

Cooling-off

A minimum seven days between consent and booking, required by law and genuinely useful: re-read your written information, talk to your GP and your people, look at your calendar with the corset timeline in mind. Deciding to proceed after a week’s reflection is exactly the footing you want for surgery.

06

Surgery

At an accredited facility in Brisbane: general anaesthesia with a specialist anaesthetist, your FRACS specialist plastic surgeon operating, roughly 45 to 60 minutes, home the same day or after one night with your corset fitted. The operation step by step.

07

Follow-up through to your final result

A structured review schedule carries you through consolidation — typically week one, weeks three and six, the consolidation check at weeks eight to twelve, and the measured final review at three to six months — with your own surgical team available in between. Interstate and regional patients: we map the full schedule with you before booking. Recovery in detail.

Pathway FAQ

Realistically several weeks at minimum: referral, two consultations, CT, consent and the seven-day cooling-off all take their place in the sequence. The structure is the point — this is how Australia does cosmetic surgery, and it works in your favour.

Parts can be telehealth, but at least one consultation must be in person with your operating surgeon — and planning bone surgery properly needs you in the room in any case.

Fees depend on your individual plan and are provided as a complete written quotation after consultation — surgical, anaesthetic and facility fees itemised, nothing hidden. We don’t publish package prices.

Then you’ll hear it directly, with reasons — anatomy, health, timing or screening. A clear “not now” or “not this procedure” from a specialist is valuable information, and there’s never pressure in either direction.
